Countryside around St Neots

Wildlife Rescue in St Neots

Wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release across St Neots and the surrounding villages.

St Neots grew up around the Great Ouse, and the riverside parks and surrounding countryside still bring in a steady stream of wildlife in need of help, from waterfowl to garden regulars. Cambridgeshire WIRE covers St Neots and the villages nearby, rescuing and rehabilitating native wildlife with the aim of getting every animal back to where it belongs.

What we do

  • Emergency care for injured wildlife, from traffic collisions to cat or dog attacks
  • Hand rearing for orphaned birds and mammals
  • Ethical, welfare led treatment from experienced carers
  • Release back into the wild close to where the animal was found, wherever possible

Every animal is treated by the same team, using the same approach, whether they’re found in St Neots itself or one of the surrounding villages. Read more about how we work on our Wildlife Rehabilitation page.

Found injured wildlife nearby?

Keep it somewhere warm, dark and quiet in a secure box, don't offer food or water unless advised to, and get in touch with us as soon as you can.

Chris is the main point of contact for Cambridgeshire WIRE, with just a small team supporting her. She works with local wildlife trusts, zoos and other contacts, but always needs more help closer to home. Register your interest for your town or village.
