A barn owl in flight

Education

Talks, sessions and hands on experiences for schools, families and community groups across Cambridgeshire.

Rehabilitation only tells half the story. Cambridgeshire WIRE works with children, families, schools and community groups across the county to build a genuine understanding of, and appreciation for, the wildlife living alongside us.

Who we work with

  • Schools: talks and sessions bringing wildlife into the classroom
  • Families: hands on opportunities to learn about the animals in care
  • Community groups: wider outreach to spread wildlife awareness across Cambridgeshire

Stories that show why it matters

A child who spent time at Chris's home years ago wrote to say those visits changed his life, he now works for the RSPB at Minsmere. It's one of the clearest examples of what early exposure to wildlife can do.

More recently, a young girl became genuinely engaged with wildlife after following the recovery of a rescued jackdaw, right up until the day it was released back into the wild. Moments like that are exactly why education sits alongside rescue as a core part of what we do.
